Melissa S. Fireman, MCDP, is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Washington Career Services, a career management firm specializing in organizational and career consulting for individuals, academia, and industry. She has 15 years experience in business, recruiting, training and career development. Melissa was formerly the Human Resources Manager for Staffing and Development at Time Life Inc. (division of Time Warner). She created a variety of managed programs including the Time Life employee development-training program, as well as innovative talent acquisition and retention initiatives. Later, she worked as the Employer Relations Representative/Career Consultant for The George Washington University Career Center, where she developed relationships with employers from the private, public and government sectors. Melissa earned her MS in Organizational/Clinical Counseling at Johns Hopkins University and obtained her BA in Sociology and Business from the University of Maryland, College Park. Susanne Maurer, LPC, Founder, Chief Operations Officer of Washington Career Services. After receiving a B.S. in Psychology from Mary Washington, Susanne worked in sales for corporate America before going back to graduate school. She obtained a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Marymount University and has held a variety of positions within the mental health field, including spending a year with the Arlington County, Virginia Employee Assistance Program. Susanne spent two years at the George Washington University Career Center, maintaining career resources, managing internships, and providing career consulting to students and alumni. She currently works as a mental health counselor for a large non-profit, providing counseling and supervision and is a Licensed Professional Counselor.
